Installation requirements for built-in safes
The structural requirements for a built-in safe depend heavily on the type of safe chosen. A wall safe requires a load-bearing wall at least 10 cm deep. It is installed between two profiles and encased in concrete for maximum resistance against break-in attempts.
A floor safe must be embedded in a solid foundation and also secured with concrete.
For furniture safes, stable anchoring within the piece of furniture or additionally in the wall is sufficient, whereas tube safes require precise boreholes in the floor or wall so that they are flush and inconspicuously embedded.
Comparison of built-in safe types at Bremer Tresor
A built-in safe can be implemented in different variations – depending on the installation location and security requirements.
- The wall safe is perfectly suited for permanent integration into masonry and can be inconspicuously hidden behind pictures or furniture. It offers solid burglary protection and saves space.
- The floor safe, on the other hand, is embedded directly into the floor and, thanks to its location, is particularly difficult to access – optimal for the long-term storage of highly sensitive valuables.
- Furniture safes are more flexible in their application, as they can be easily integrated into cabinets and other furniture. Depending on the anchoring, they offer a good level of security and require no structural modifications for this purpose.
- Tube safes are compact specialized solutions for smaller valuables such as keys or USB sticks. They can be installed in walls or floors to save space and remain inconspicuous due to their small diameter.
Anyone wishing to purchase a built-in safe should select the right variant based on their specific conditions and intended use. Our team is always available for detailed and individual safe consultation.
Quality features of a built-in safe
As the name suggests, a built-in safe is designed to be installed in a wall or floor. Thanks to a profile on the front and back, a wall-mounted built-in safe can be firmly integrated into the brickwork. After the safe is installed, there is a solid layer of concrete between the rear and front profile, so that the safe cannot be torn out of the wall. A floor-mounted built-in safe is firmly integrated into the floor from above using a concrete foundation. This allows built-in safes to be perfectly hidden and camouflaged within their surroundings. For additional protection against elemental damage, a built-in safe with fireproof or waterproof material is also available upon request, so that sensitive documents and data carriers can be stored even more securely. The only sensitive part of a built-in safe is the only accessible part: the door. To prevent access through this, we subject our built-in safes to strict quality controls, which are confirmed by certifications.
Individual customization options for built-in safes
At Bremer Tresor, you have the option of customizing your built-in safe not only in terms of size but also in its features to suit your needs. Choose between the colors light gray and graphite gray. The choice of lock is up to you. Depending on the model, the following lock types are available:
- Standard double-bit key lock
- Electronic combination lock
- Kaba-Mauer lock
- Combination lock with emergency key
A combination lock with an emergency key is ideal in case you ever lock yourself out.
Wall safes with security levels
Our Indra and Thisa wall safes are both tested and certified against break-ins. The Indra built-in safe features security level S2 according to EN 14450, which certifies light burglary protection. The guideline for insurance in private use is €20,000. If you plan to protect valuables more strongly against burglary, a safe from the Thisa series is recommended. These safes offer solid burglary protection through security level 1 according to EN 1143. In a class 1 built-in safe, valuables can be insured up to a value of €65,000.
Floor safes with security levels
While hiding wall safes behind a painting is already quite popular in many movies, one would hardly suspect a built-in safe in the floor under a carpet. Our Pan series floor safes can be optimally integrated into the floor. Specially constructed walls around the door ensure that there is enough space above the door to add a floor plate. This allows the floor safe to be completely hidden in the floor using a tile or parquet board. Built-in safes in the Pan series feature a certified burglary protection level of S2 according to EN 14450, which certifies increased resistance to break-ins. This ensures that even if the safe is found, the burglar will not have an easy time getting to your valuables. Furthermore, this official certification by the ECB-S or VdS allows you to insure the contents against theft up to a value of €20,000. For higher insurance coverage, a security cabinet is a good option; while easier to locate, it is much harder to break into. Feel free to find out more under security cabinets.
