Your security cabinet can be combined with fire protection
At Bremer Tresor, we place great value on the variety of our security offerings. We want to provide you with a wide range of combinations of security levels and fire protection so that you don't just find a safe, but the perfect safe for your needs. This gives you the option of combining your safe with security level S2 according to EN 14450 with defined fire protection. Fire protection is certified according to the European standards EN 1047-1 and EN 15659. These confirm a fire protection test of 30, 60, or 120 minutes in a fire with temperatures exceeding 1000°C. During this, the interior temperature must not rise by more than 150°C, ensuring the contents remain undamaged (stricter requirements apply for data media according to S 60 DIS and S 120 DIS). The certifications are LFS 30 P, S 60 P, and S 120 P, with the latter two also including a drop test after the fire test to guarantee flawless functionality even after floors have burned through. The number in the certification indicates the duration of the fire test in minutes.
| Certification | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| LFS30P | 30 minutes | Paper |
| S60P | 60 minutes | Paper |
| S120P | 120 minutes | Paper |
| S60DIS | 60 minutes | Data media |
| S120DIS | 120 minutes | Data media |
What does security level S2 according to EN 14450 mean?
Security level S2 according to EN 14450 certifies that the safe model has been extensively tested by official testing bodies. A safe with security level S2 has a security unit of 60 TP / 5 SU, which corresponds to light burglary protection.
This security unit represents an insurance value of €5,000.00 for private use. Commercial use for burglary protection is not recommended; please consult your property insurer. Security level S2 according to European standard EN 14450 is equivalent to the obsolete safe security level B according to the German standard VDMA 24992. The VDMA standards were superseded in 2004 and replaced by the European standards according to EN 14450. The major difference is that VDMA certification merely contains guidelines for construction, whereas EN guidelines for safes require extensive testing. Consequently, a safe with security level S2 is extensively tested against mechanical and thermal break-in attempts, whereas a VDMA-compliant safe only needs to be built according to guidelines.
Comparison of security levels
Safes with certifications according to EN 14450 are called security cabinets because they only guarantee light burglary protection. Security cabinets are primarily intended for private security, not for commercial burglary protection. Safes with certification according to EN 1143 exhibit a much higher degree of resistance and are called security safes (Wertschutztresore). These security levels are granted by the official testing bodies VdS and ECB-S after extensive testing of the resistance degree. Certifications according to EN 1143 exist in 6 different security levels with varying resistance values in RU, which allow for different insurance coverage amounts following consultation with the property insurer. The certifications apply to both:
