What is a drop safe?

A drop safe is a safe featuring a deposit flap. Items such as cash or keys can be deposited by anyone. However, once deposited, only authorized persons with the key or numeric code have access to the valuables inside the drop safe.

Removing the deposited items through the deposit slot or drawer is prevented by an anti-fishing device. A drop safe from Bremer Tresor allows deposits via a slot or, for larger items, through a drawer.

Classes and security levels of drop safes

All our drop safes have certifications that can be verified by official testing institutes. We offer drop safes certified according to various security levels so that you can find the right price-performance ratio for your requirements. Safes with a higher security level offer greater burglary protection and higher insurance coverage, but also come at a higher price, as a stronger security level requires a more complex and resilient construction.

We offer drop safes with 4 different security levels or grades of resistance:

Triton with security level S1

This is the base model, focusing on a simple deposit option and light burglary protection. This drop safe is certified according to EN 14450 for security cabinets. The model is not suitable for commercial insurance. Therefore, the focus is on functionality and internal operational security.

Anubis & Ammon with resistance grade DI

These models offer increased burglary protection and allow valuables to be insured. In these models, valuables can be insured for up to 20,000 euros in a commercial setting. For private use, the estimated insurance coverage increases to 65,000 euros. Certification is based on the European standard EN 1143-2, which specifically applies to drop safes. The same tests as those for a security safe with a resistance grade according to EN 1143-1 are performed. Additionally, the safe's deposit mechanism is tested. These drop safes therefore also feature a tested anti-fishing device.

Midas with security level DII

This drop safe model is used when exchanging valuable items. The safes in the Midas series are certified to security level D2. This certification was also issued according to EN 1143-2, ensuring the body, door, and anti-fishing device have been tested and classified as particularly secure. This high level of burglary protection makes it possible to commercially insure contents in the drop safe for up to 50,000 euros. For private use, the insurance coverage rises to 100,000 euros.

Thanus with resistance grade DIII

Our top model for the highest security requirements. Certification according to EN 1143-2 at level D3 ensures maximum protection. Commercially, values of up to 100,000 euros can be insured, and up to 200,000 euros for private use.

Applications for safes with a deposit function

Drop safes or "deposit safes," as they are also called, are used in many areas due to the ideal separation of depositing and withdrawing.

Retailers often use a drop safe to store cash directly. Due to the separate withdrawal process, branch staff, for example, can no longer access the stored money, meaning that a robbery cannot be successful. In car rental agencies, a drop safe is often used for overnight key returns, where the deposit slot is located on the outside of the building.

Different people can put items worthy of protection into the safe. These can be employees or customers. This is a professional security solution that also offers protection against complications.

In the catering industry, drop safes are used to store cash. Employees can deposit their earnings into the drop safe after their shift. This ensures that the revenue cannot be manipulated afterward. Trust is good, control is better. Depending on the revenue, catering businesses usually opt for a drop safe from the Ammon series with security level D1 according to EN 1143-2. This simultaneously protects them against robberies and allows them to insure their revenue.

Gas stations

Gas stations also use drop safes to secure revenue. Since significant amounts are handled at gas stations, the cash holdings are correspondingly high. A drop safe allows employees to secure excess cash from the register at any time. In the event of a robbery, this money cannot be taken, as robbers are not prepared for safe-cracking. Coercing employees to open the safe is also futile, as they cannot open it themselves. Depending on the cash levels, an Anubis series drop safe is often used in gas stations.

Car dealerships

In car dealerships, deposit safes are popular as a service offering for customers. Regardless of the dealership's opening hours, customers can drop off vehicle keys via a deposit system (drawer or flap) located in the outer wall of the building into a safe inside the facility. This allows the customer to drop off their vehicle for workshop service even after business hours. The deposit safe can be combined with a key dispensing system, which allows the customer to retrieve their vehicle keys after hours via a dispensing compartment with a numeric code.
