Compliance with the Weapons Act
According to the German Weapons Act, firearms and their corresponding ammunition must be stored securely in a protected location (§ 36 WaffG Weapons Act/WaffG). For a gun room, a gun room door with a resistance grade of 1 certified according to EN 1143-1 is therefore generally required. Look for the corresponding inspection label. In addition, a wall thickness of 240 to 360 mm is usually required. As an alternative, a reinforced concrete wall according to EN 206-1 or DIN 1045-2 (140-170 mm) is also possible. No windows are permitted – at most, the installation of ventilation ducts (max. diameter 12 cm) is possible.
If you are setting up a private gun room, you should also obtain information from your local weapons authority, as federal states and districts sometimes have their own guidelines for this.

- 240 to 360 mm wall thickness
- Reinforced concrete wall
- 140 to 170 mm according to

Door size
Commonly chosen dimensions (HxWxD) for a gun room door include, for example, a height of 200 cm and a width of 100 cm. Our door frames (block frames) are designed for a depth of 30 cm. This results in a passage height of approximately 188 cm and a passage width of 88 cm. However, these dimensions can be selected individually upon request and adapted to your requirements. If, for example, the users of the gun room require a higher door passage due to their height, a passage height of 2 meters can also be defined. Depending on which cabinets and objects must pass through the door, a larger width may also be required.
| Dimension | Height | Width |
|---|---|---|
| Nominal door size | 200 cm | 100 cm |
| Passage dimensions | 188 cm | 88 cm |
Locking system
The security of your vault door also depends on a high-quality locking system. Choose your preferred type of lock for securing the gun room door from us:
- Double-bit lock: allows the room to be opened without the need for a code, but strictly requires secure storage of the key.
- Electronic combination lock: here, care must be taken that the corresponding (but at any time adjustable) code does not fall into the wrong hands and thus allow unauthorized access.
- Kaba-Mauer lock: offers maximum security by combining an electronic combination lock with a hidden double-bit lock.
You also have the option of equipping your gun room door with a blocking mechanism to prevent people from being locked in accidentally. This can be operated from the inside and then reliably prevents the room from being locked from the outside. If locking someone inside the gun room is desired, your door can also be equipped with a double-sided lock and handle.
Installation of the gun room door
Before setting up your gun room, pay attention to the required wall thickness and wall material – glass concrete and glass blocks, for example, are unsuitable foundations. If you also wish to ensure fire protection, your door should definitely be concreted in rather than just anchored.
Our customer service team will be happy to advise you on model selection. You can also contact us by email or telephone at any time with questions regarding shipping, delivery time, and assembly. Together with you, we will quickly find a secure room solution tailored to your circumstances.

Frequently asked questions
When a suitable room is available and only the access needs to be secured. From about a dozen long guns, this is often more cost-effective than several safes.
The door is only as effective as the masonry surrounding it. We will check the wall structure, thickness, and ceiling together before ordering.
