There are various reasons why you might want to have your safe retrofitted with a combination lock. Do you want to replace an outdated locking system (usually a double-bit key lock)? Or would you like to be able to change the circle of authorized users in a flexible and secure manner? Retrofitting to a modern, electronic combination lock is definitely a more cost-effective alternative to purchasing a new safe.
We at Bremer Tresor offer you expert advice and execution for the conversion of your locking system.

Advantages of the combination lock
As the owner of a security safe or gun cabinet, the safety of your stored items is your top priority. A modern combination lock supports you in this.
Your advantages at a glance:
- You can easily change the circle of people who have access to the safe without having to duplicate keys. Depending on the safe model, it is even possible to set one or more numerical codes for the electronic lock. This flexibility is particularly important in the business sector. This allows access to stored items and weapons to be managed clearly.
- If the safe cannot be opened, this is often due to old batteries, which you can change yourself (see the guide "Opening a safe when the battery is empty"). In addition, a combination lock has a master code that can be used if the user code is lost. If, on the other hand, the key is lost or defective, you must contact a professional for an emergency safe opening.
You can find more information about locks under Safe locks and electronic combination lock.
Conversion of the locking system
A large proportion of current and older safes with a key lock that have a central bolt mechanism can be retrofitted with an electronic combination lock. In most cases, the mechanical unlocking system is retained and the combination lock is mounted on the inside and outside.
Please note that you must inform yourself about the required resistance grade. A safe for weapons in particular must meet certain security classes. Therefore, have the retrofitting of your safe to a combination lock carried out by one of our competent employees; this way, you will receive a modern lock that meets current DIN-standard security levels.
