Additional Fire Protection
A safe with resistance grade N/0 according to EN 1143-1 already offers good burglary protection. Your security can be enhanced by additional fire protection, as fire is another enemy of valuables and documents. A safe with resistance grade N/0 already provides a certain degree of protection due to the compact design from Bremer Tresor. For perfect fire security, choose a model that has also passed official fire tests.
There are various certifications for fire protection that attest to the passing of a fire test. The certifications are LFS30P, S60P, S120P, S60DIS, and S120DIS , where the number represents the duration of the fire test performed in minutes and the suffix indicates the purpose for which it was tested. Certification according to LFS30P per EN 15659 offers light fire protection, and certification according to S60P per EN 1047-1 provides strong fire protection. "P" stands for paper. For the fire protection of paper, a fireproof safe may have a maximum internal temperature increase of 150°. DIS is the abbreviation for diskette and covers all media that contain data carriers. Fireproof safes intended to offer protection for data carriers may have a maximum internal temperature increase of 30° C.
| Certification | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| LFS30P | 30 minutes | Paper |
| S60P | 60 minutes | Paper |
| S120P | 120 minutes | Paper |
| S60DIS | 60 minutes | Data carriers |
| S120DIS | 120 minutes | Data carriers |
Sizes and Accessories
Once you have made your decision regarding the security and fire protection properties, you can select a model. You will then have the opportunity to choose your safe in the perfect size, ensuring it provides enough interior space while also fitting in your desired location. Furthermore, you can order your safe in various colors and equip it with different types of locks (e.g., a combination lock) – the choice is yours. Your safe with resistance grade N comes standard with a high-security double-bit lock with 2 keys. However, the security safe can also be easily equipped with a combination lock or fingerprint lock. Additionally, you have the option to customize the interior to your needs:
- Additional shelf
- Suspension file
- Key rail
Certification Resistance Grade 0
Safes of resistance grade 0 belong to the class of security safes. EN 1143-1 from the ECB-S (European Certification Board - Security Systems) applies to security safes. Security safes must meet stricter requirements than safety cabinets tested according to EN 14450. Resistance grade N/0 is the lowest safe security level for a security safe. To obtain certification for resistance grade 0 according to EN 1143-1 from the official testing institutes of the ECB-S and the VDS, however, high quality standards are required. The tested partial and full breakthroughs must be successfully passed. For this purpose, we equip our resistance grade N/0 safes with a multi-walled body and additional fillings in the cavities.
Other Security Levels for Comparison
As already mentioned, there are different DIN standards for the certification of a safe. While safes of resistance grade 0 are tested according to EN 1143-1, lighter safes are tested according to EN 14450. Safes tested according to EN 14450 are awarded security levels S1 and S2 and correspond to the standard for safety cabinets, but not to the standard for security safes according to EN 1143-1.
For the classification of security safes according to EN 1143-1, the resistance values, abbreviated as RU ("Resistance Unit"), are tested. This is followed by the division into resistance grades from 0/N to 6. Until 2004, another classification for safety cabinets according to VDMA 24992 was selectable, where safes had to meet certain design guidelines. In addition to the VDS classes, VDMA represented an additional German testing unit. The division into classification A and B according to VDMA 24992 combined with weight is outdated due to a lack of quality control. However, the VDMA guidelines are still in use, which is why we classify our safety cabinets according to VDMA 24992 and certify them according to EN 14450. You can recognize the testing and certification of a safe on its inside: Tested models have a corresponding test label on the inside of the door.
In addition to security safes, we offer other types of safes in our online shop that are used for different purposes. The same certifications apply to all these safes; for example, for gun safes, furniture safes, wall safes, and key safes. The structure of the body is not changed here; the safes are only adapted to their individual purpose.
Would you like to buy a safe, but are still unsure which of our models is right for you? We are happy to advise you!
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
The safe has passed the forced entry test according to EN 1143-1 and achieved the resistance value for grade 0. This is the entry level of the standard and simultaneously the threshold from which insurers will recognize any sum at all.
Grade N is below grade 0 and is often stated together as N/0. The recognized sums differ, but the testing standard is the same.
For many households, yes. As soon as cash, jewelry, or collectibles reach a higher value, it is worth considering grade 1 or higher.
