Buy tested security safes from Bremer Tresor
Our safes are extensively tested by public testing bodies and awarded with the certifications achieved. The tests include forced entry attempts using specified professional tools. Depending on whether and how quickly the safe is broken into, the safe receives a security level according to the EU standard EN 1143. This ensures difficult to very difficult forced entry, which involves a lot of time and noise.
By choosing the right security level, you also have the option of insuring your valuables in a suitable security safe.
Buying a security safe: three important questions before purchase
Bremer Tresor offers a wide product range of various safes – from compact wall safes to fireproof safes and gun cabinets. We also stock various sizes and security levels in the field of security safes. Before you decide on a security safe, you should ask yourself the following questions to find the best possible safe.
1. What do I want to protect?
What you want to secure in your security safe is the first and most important question when looking for a suitable security safe. The appropriate security level of the safe depends on the value of your valuables. The security level provides information about the resistance grade and protection during forced entry attempts. These resistance grades are awarded after tests by official VDS and ECB-S bodies in accordance with EN 1143 guidelines.
The security level grade of the safe is also the key to the insurance cover you have. Depending on the resistance grade, your insurance company will insure you for a certain value against loss. As soon as you have quantified your valuables, you must then decide on the right security level according to EN 1143 in the next step.
2. What do I want to protect my valuables from?
This question should be clear with a security safe – burglary protection, of course. However, protection against fire is also provided by many models from Bremer Tresor. So, should your security safe be equipped with fire protection?
In addition, many of our safes are certified by VdS Schadenverhütung – an independent and widely respected testing and certification institute. Through this certification, you can be sure that you have a high-quality and qualified security safe.
Fire protection
Additional fire protection is usually already provided by the high quality of our security safes. Here too, there are various certificates that guarantee fire protection. Here is an overview of the various classifications of our fireproof safes with a temperature resistance of up to approx. 1,090 °C:
| Fire protection class | Protection duration during fire |
|---|---|
| LFS30P | 30 minutes |
| S60P | 60 minutes |
| S120P | 120 minutes |
So if you attach particular importance to comprehensive fire protection for your security safe, pay attention to the respective certification. This way, your important documents remain optimally protected even in the event of intense heat development.
Resistance grades and security levels
For the question of resistance grades and the associated security level, it is now important to know the purpose of the safe – are you using the safe privately or commercially? The estimated insurance values for security levels according to EN 1143 are based on this.
Resistance grades range from N (0) to Grade 6 and indicate how long a safe withstands a professional forced entry attempt. The higher the resistance grade, the higher the recommended insurance sums. For example, a safe with resistance grade N (0) is suitable for private valuables up to approx. €40,000, while Grade 1 already allows for coverage up to €65,000. Correspondingly reduced insurance sums apply in commercial use.
Here you will find a list of the security levels and their resistance grades, as well as the recommended insurance sum for commercial and private use:
Insurance cover
The insurance cover of a security safe depends significantly on the security level, the resistance grade, and the weight of the safe.
The higher the resistance grade and the heavier the safe, the higher the possible insurance sum usually is. To be on the safe side, you should always coordinate with your insurance company before buying a security safe. The local experts can then work with you to ensure that your safe is also qualified for the desired coverage.
3. Where should my security safe be placed?
After selecting the correct class according to EN 1143 for your security safe with the appropriate insurance cover and fire protection, the installation location must now be considered. This will give you an overview of the correct dimensions for your security safe. The following considerations are important for choosing the correct dimensions:
- How much space can the safe take up at most?
- How much space do you need inside the safe?
- How large are the items you want to store?
Due to the large selection at Bremer Tresor, a security safe should be found for every requirement – we are happy to help. You also have the option to combine your security safe and use it simultaneously as a gun cabinet, both of which are tested according to the EU standard EN 1143.
A furniture safe, which usually needs to be anchored due to its low weight, is also conceivable. We at Bremer Tresor want to offer you a large, yet clear range of safes so that you find the right security safe exactly according to your wishes.
Anchoring security safes correctly
The installation location and the professional anchoring of your security safe are closely linked.
For private households, secure anchoring is recommended for safe weights under 1,000 kg; in the commercial sector, it is mandatory in many cases. Ideal locations are solid concrete floors or load-bearing walls.
Heavy-duty anchors or chemical anchors should be used for anchoring to prevent the entire safe from being stolen. When choosing the installation location, a discreet, hard-to-reach position should already be taken into account.
Bremer Tresor offers you comprehensive service so that you can have your safe anchored and thus sustainably increase your security.
Choosing the right lock for the security safe
The choice of the appropriate locking system is decisive for the security of your security safe. Bremer Tresor offers you various types of locks, each of which offers specific advantages:
| Lock type | Advantage |
|---|---|
| Double-bit lock | Robust, easy handling |
| Combination lock | Fast access, no key needed |
| Kaba Mauer lock | Particularly resistant to manipulation attempts |
| RFID lock | Contactless operation, modern technology |
Electronic locks for increased security
Electronic locks offer a modern and convenient solution for accessing security safes. They function via individually programmable numerical codes, meaning no physical key is required. Many models allow the setup of multiple user codes, which means different people can be equipped with their own access data – this is particularly practical for companies. Maintenance is also uncomplicated: electronic locks are usually battery-operated. An integrated battery warning informs you in good time about a low charge level, so an orderly battery change is possible at any time.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Both refer to the same thing: a safe with a tested resistance grade according to EN 1143-1. The standard uses the term "Wertschutzschrank" (security cabinet), while "Wertschutztresor" (security safe) is also common in retail.
From Grade N and 0 through Grade 1 up to Grade 6. With each grade, the tested resistance value increases, as does the recognized insurance coverage amount.
That depends on the contents. Cash and jewelry survive a fire better than documents and data media. Many models carry both certifications.
