Fire resistance

The primary goal of a fireproof safe is to protect important items as effectively as possible in the event of a fire. Various certificates determine how secure a safe's fire protection is. The determining factor here is the duration of the fire. Although the fire department is usually on the scene within minutes, it can, of course, happen that extinguishing a fire takes up to several hours. In the world of safes, there are three protection classes:

• 30 minutes fire protection
• 60 minutes fire protection
• 120 minutes fire protection

One thing you should not skimp on is the fire protection class. It is possible that documents or papers may be damaged or destroyed in a fire if the level of fire protection is too low. In such cases, very high temperatures occur inside, which, in the worst case, will permanently destroy your documents.

Fire protection certification

Our fireproof safes are designed for secure storage and undergo various fire safety tests:

Low protection requirements according to EN 15659

Suitable for items that can withstand temperatures of up to 170 °C.

Fire safety test LFS 30 P

The fireproof safes are tested for 30 minutes at a max. temperature of 840 °C.

Fire safety test LFS 60 P

The fireproof safes are tested for 60 minutes at a max. fire chamber temperature of 940 °C.

High security requirements according to EN 1047-1

Suitable for items that can withstand a temperature increase of 150 °C, including an additional drop test.

Fire safety test S 60 and 120 P

Suitable for paper documents; an external temperature of 1090 °C is generated here. During this period, the internal temperature may only increase by 150 °C.

Fire safety test S 60 and 120 DIS

Suitable for data media; an external temperature of 1090 °C is generated here. During this period, the internal temperature may only increase by 30 °C.

In addition, a drop test is performed. The safe is dropped from a height of 9.15 meters to test its structural integrity, simulating the collapse of a floor. Upon passing this test procedure, the model series receives the VdS or ECB-S test seal.
