Safe VdS class 3: tested by VdS according to EN 1143-1

A VdS class 3 safe corresponds to resistance grade 3 according to EN 1143-1 and holds a certificate from VdS Schadenverhütung GmbH. The door and body feature multi-walled construction with a special filling. As a guideline, it can be insured for up to 200,000 euros for private use and 100,000 euros for commercial use.

What sets this selection apart from Resistance Grade 3

Both terms refer to the same test according to EN 1143-1; the difference lies in the testing body. Here, you will find exclusively safes certified by VdS Schadenverhütung GmbH. The complete selection across all institutes, including ECB-S and IMP, is available under Safe Resistance Grade 3.

What defines Resistance Grade 3

The difference compared to lower levels lies in the material. The door and body are multi-walled and feature a special filling. This construction is the reason why significantly higher insurance sums can be covered with this class than with Grade 1 or 2.

Frequently asked questions

The standard is the same, EN 1143-1. The difference lies in the testing institute. This category only shows safes tested by VdS, while the Resistance Grade 3 category shows all safes, including those from ECB-S and IMP.

The door and body are multi-walled and filled with a special material. This construction significantly increases the time required for an attack and is the reason for the higher insurance coverage amounts.

As a guideline for the insurance industry, up to 200,000 euros for private use and up to 100,000 euros for commercial use. For values in this range, insurers often impose additional requirements, such as for anchoring or an intrusion detection system.

That depends on the contents. Burglary protection and fire protection are two separate tests. For irreplaceable items that no insurance can replace, the combination makes sense.
