Burglary protection and insurance limits
Burglary protection is extensively tested for all safes from Bremer Tresor. All safes listed here have a security level according to EN 1143-1. Most insurers require certification to be carried out by the VdS (German Insurance Association). We also refer to a certified resistance grade according to EN 1143-1 by the VdS as a "VdS class" for short. As additional security, insurers often specify a minimum weight of 200 kg to minimize the chance of the safe being carried away. Find out more under Insuring a safe.
The requirement for a weight of 200kg usually applies to private use. In the commercial sector, a commercial safe weighing 300kg or more is usually required. In this category, it is also advisable to consider a strongroom safe.
Equipment
All security safes from Bremer Tresor can be equipped individually. The Fortuna, Brami, and Kronos model series can be expanded with fire protection (except for Fortuna 60.2 and 80.2). For this purpose, additional insulation layers and seals are installed. Due to these layers, the safe passes a fire protection test according to EN 15659. This guarantees that items and even paper can withstand the flames and temperatures of a fire for at least 30 minutes. Find out more under Fire protection classes.
Our safes weighing 200kg or more are primarily intended for floor anchoring. However, the security safes can also be anchored to the rear wall or even the side wall if floor anchoring is not possible due to structural conditions. Simply add the service for the desired drilling to the item.
Furthermore, configurations are available to you, such as changing the door hinge, attaching key hooks, adding additional shelves, having an alarm system installed, and much more.
The right lock
You have the option of equipping your 200kg safe with various locks. The most cost-effective solution is the double-bit lock. Here, the safe is simply opened with a key. The electronic combination lock is widely used. In this case, the safe can only be opened with an individual code. This has the advantage that burglars have no hope of finding a key, which is the preferred solution in most cases.
An advanced solution is the combination lock with an emergency key. Here, both a double-bit lock and a combination lock are installed. Both locks are mechanically connected, so the safe can be opened either by a key or by the combination code.
The high-end solution for a combination lock with an emergency key is the Kaba Mauer lock. Here, the revision (the emergency keyhole) is hidden behind the opening wheel. Thus, it is not apparent from the outside that the lock could also be opened with a key. In addition, the lock offers numerous opening variants, such as opening delay, four-eyes principle, and more. Read more at Kaba Mauer lock.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
The weight provides information about the wall construction and determines the anchoring requirement. Many insurers recognize safes weighing 200 kg or more even without anchoring
We generally recommend it for safes up to 1,000 kg. Anchoring prevents the safe from being taken away in its entirety and opened elsewhere at leisure.
Up to 200 kg, structural integrity is generally not an issue. Above that, the floor level and proximity to a load-bearing wall matter. We will review the installation site with you before delivery.
