Security levels

Before purchasing a safe, you should consider how many long guns and handguns you expect to store in your gun safe over the coming years. You should choose the security level according to the number of firearms, either a Class 0 gun safe with a combination lock or a Class 1 gun safe with a combination lock. Here is a brief overview:

Furthermore, your gun safe with a combination lock can also be used like a security safe. This is because its certification according to EN 1143-1, which describes burglary protection and thus a resistance grade, corresponds to the VdS class of a security safe.

If you decide to also store valuables in your gun safe, discuss this with your insurer beforehand so that you can choose the correct class.

Suitable locking system for your gun safe

Bremer Tresor safes are generally supplied with a high-security double-bit lock. However, we recommend a keyless locking system for gun safes. This ensures there is no risk associated with secure key storage, as it cannot be lost. It is also possible to retrofit one of our gun safes with an electronic lock. The following locks are available for selection:

• A high-quality electronic combination lock, which is opened only with a 6-digit user code or a 7-digit super code (for emergencies). The code can be reprogrammed as often as desired. Emergency opening is required in the following cases: if the lock is defective, if it is destroyed by fire, or if the (super) code for the electronic lock is lost.
• An electronic combination lock with manual override or emergency opening via key. Here, too, the combination code can be changed as often as required. In addition, the opening protocol transmits acoustic signals. Both locks are mechanically connected, so that confirming one lock is sufficient to open the safe. If the electronic combination lock fails, e.g. due to vandalism, loss of the code, or a fire, the gun safe with the combination lock can also be opened with a key. This should not be stored in the house, as it is only intended for emergencies. This lock cannot be installed in narrow safes.
• The highest-quality lock that can be installed in our safes is the Kaba lock. Regardless of the safe's security level, it features a VdS Class 2 certification. It consists of an electronic combination lock and a concealed double-bit lock behind the opening dial. The operating principle is the same as the system described above, but it has significantly more features, e.g. a wrong-code lockout, silent alarm, time delay, and the four-eyes opening principle (two independent codes are required to open the safe). This lock cannot be installed in narrow safes either. In addition, higher costs are incurred due to installation and mechanical coupling.

Do you have sufficient space at the location where you want to set up the gun safe, or is it cramped? You can also select the desired internal dimensions (h × w × d in cm) or the volume (in liters).

Fire protection

Since metal has excellent heat-conducting properties, temperatures of up to 700 degrees Celsius can develop inside the safe during a fire. At these temperatures, documents and data carriers are destroyed and ammunition explodes. Due to high demand, we offer numerous models with fire protection according to EN 1047-1 or EN 15659, which protect their contents from fire and heat (safes with fire protection classes according to EN 1047-1 also from extinguishing water).
