To make your selection easier, answer these questions for yourself first:

• Are you looking for a key safe for private or commercial use?
• How many keys will you be storing in this key safe today and in the near future?
• Will you also be storing electronic keys, e.g., car keys, in it?
• How many people should have access to the key safe?

Areas of Application

Key safes with combination locks, or key cabinets, are used in both private and commercial settings. A special area of use is the key safe as a dispensing system. We will briefly introduce you to the three application areas:

• In the private sector, key safes with electronic combination locks are mostly used for organization and to protect car keys, safe keys, or spare keys from theft during a burglary. It is also conceivable to keep selected keys in a key box outside the house so that friends, family, or service providers can access them.
• Companies have many keys to manage. Therefore, key safes serve here for organization, but also to prevent unauthorized or disorganized sharing. Secure key management is particularly important for hotels or car rental companies.
• Special safe models allow for secure and unmanned key dispensing (key garage), e.g., for emergency keys or for hotels and car rental agencies. To this end, combination codes can be set that only work once. Afterwards, the key safe can only be opened with a master key. Most key safes intended for outdoor wall mounting are made of rust-proof materials, and the combination lock is equipped with a sealing cover plate. In addition, precautions have been taken to ensure that prying or smashing is not possible: the body and the safe door are 3 mm thick, and the hinges and door locking mechanism are of high-quality construction. Security Levels

We offer our key safes in various security levels. These security levels confirm a quality inspection or compliance with specifications. Consider which keys you will be storing in your key safe today and in the future, and choose the security level accordingly. Will you be storing a safe key or a car key in the key safe, for example? The higher the selected security level, the higher the burglary protection.

Locking System

Our safes are equipped with a double-bit high-security lock as standard. To ensure that you do not lose or misplace a key, or that unauthorized third parties do not open the key safe, we recommend a combination lock that can be opened with a code. Our safes can also be retrofitted to a different locking system later on. We have three different electronic combination locks to choose from:

• A high-quality electronic combination lock that can be opened with a 6-digit number code or a 7-digit supercode (in an emergency). Different codes can be set. In the event of a lock defect, the destruction of the lock by fire, or the loss of the code and the supercode, an emergency safe opening is necessary.
• An electronic combination lock with revision or emergency opening via a key, in which both systems are connected to each other: a combination code (with opening protocol via acoustic signal), which can be changed as often as desired, and a key lock. As soon as one of the two locking systems is authorized, the safe opens, as both systems are linked. If the electronic combination lock fails, e.g., due to vandalism, loss of the code, or fire, the safe can be opened with a key. The key should not be kept inside the house. It is used only in an emergency. This lock cannot be installed in narrow safes.
• The highest quality lock that can be installed in our safes is the Kaba lock. Regardless of the safe's security level, it has a VDS Class 2 certification. This lock consists of an electronic combination lock and a concealed double-bit lock behind the opening dial and functions in principle like the one described above. However, it has significantly more functions, including silent alarm, incorrect code lockout, and the dual-control principle (two independent codes are required to open the safe). Due to the installation, mechanical coupling, and programming, higher costs are incurred.

Fire Protection

If you store electronic keys in your key safe, such as car keys, we recommend that you additionally select fire protection for your safe, as electronics in particular cannot withstand the high temperatures that can occur during a fire for long.
