Security levels
If you would like to choose a gun cabinet, first select the security level. These levels, also known as security classes, together with the weight of the safe, determine how many firearms you are permitted to store inside:
| Kriterium | Regelung in Österreich |
|---|---|
Since your class 0 gun cabinet corresponds to a VdS class for secure storage units, it has a degree of resistance and therefore a certified burglary protection. You may insure the contents of this safe: for commercial use, the insurance coverage is €10,000, and for private use, €40,000.
Lock system
Our safes are generally supplied with a double-bit high-security lock. For gun cabinets, we recommend upgrading to a different lock system, as the secure storage of the key itself presents a risk. We offer three different electronic combination locks:
- A high-quality electronic combination lock can be opened with a 6-digit numerical code or a 7-digit supercode (in an emergency). The code can be reprogrammed as often as desired and passed on for emergencies. Emergency opening of the gun cabinet becomes necessary in the following cases: defective electronic lock, destruction of the lock due to fire, or loss of both the code and the supercode.
- An electronic combination lock with revision or emergency opening via key combines the advantages of both locks: the numerical code can be changed as often as desired and the opening log can transmit acoustic signals. Both locks are mechanically linked, so confirmation from one lock is sufficient to open the gun cabinet. If the electronic combination lock fails, e.g., due to vandalism, loss of the code, or fire, the safe can be opened with the key. The key should not be stored in the house. It is used only in an emergency. This lock cannot be installed in narrow safes.
- The Kaba lock is the highest-quality lock that can be installed in our safes. The lock itself has a VdS class 2 certification, regardless of the security level of the safe. In principle, this lock (an electronic combination lock and a concealed double-bit lock behind the dial) functions like the one described above, but it has significantly more features, including a dual-custody opening principle (two independent codes are required to open the safe), a wrong-code lockout, and a silent alarm. The Kaba lock cannot be installed on narrow safe models. Due to the assembly and mechanical coupling, higher costs are incurred.

Fire protection
Would you like to store documents and data media in your gun cabinet in addition to ammunition? Then find out about our gun cabinets with fire protection. Due to high demand, we have numerous versions in our range that protect your long guns, handguns, and ammunition as well as other valuables against fire, heat, and extinguishing water. Ammunition in particular can explode if the heat inside the safe becomes too high and cause significant damage. In this case, we recommend a fire protection class according to EN 1047-1 or EN 15659.
Equipment and dimensions
If the room where the gun cabinet is to be placed is cramped, select the possible external dimensions (hxwxd in cm) in our navigation and have the possible models displayed. If you have enough space, you can consider the features you are likely to need today and in the coming years. By all means, plan for a little extra space (internal dimensions hxwxd in cm). We offer, for example, a lockable internal compartment, numerous gun holders, a middle partition for a shelf section, or even a sophisticated bulletproof glass door so that you can elegantly showcase your gun cabinet. And do not worry about security. Our safe with the bulletproof glass door has passed all security tests by the official VdS and ECB-S testing bodies and holds the official certificates.
