Provinzial Nord: Safe requirements
Provinzial Nord Brandkasse, headquartered in Kiel, is the Provinzial insurer for Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg, and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Since 2020, it has been part of Provinzial Holding AG, the second-largest public insurance company in Germany. Anyone insured there who wishes to protect valuables beyond standard limits requires a certified container. The requirements are listed here.
Contents insurance according to VHB 2017
Without a safe, strict limits apply to valuables: a total of up to 30 percent of the sum insured, jewelry up to 25,000 euros, and cash up to 1,500 euros. These can be increased with a certified security safe:

The minimum weight of 200 kilograms is an independent condition in addition to the classification. A lighter model of the same class does not fulfill the requirement, even if professionally anchored.

Commercial coverage includes over 2,500 types of business and protects cash, jewelry, and precious metals. The requirements are higher, and the limits are lower:

The minimum weight increases to 300 kilograms, while the indemnity limits decrease. This is the standard system: in commercial settings, the risk of a targeted attack is assessed as higher.
Mobile phones and cigarettes
For these product groups, a security cabinet of level S1 according to EN 14450 with proper anchoring is sufficient. This is the lower standard and significantly cheaper than a security safe; entry-level models are in the triple-digit price range.
